Where Prince was introduced to African-American church music
Prince was introduced to Seventh-day Adventism by his aunt, Mary Hill, a devout Christian who brought the young boy to worship services in this church during the late 1960s. Prince was accompanied by his cousin Charles “Chazz” Smith, who was later his musical collaborator. The African-American church music they heard in this building provided a foundation for their later music-making.
